5 most likely Marketing Trends for 2020

The new year is almost upon us again, and it will bring new trends and styles to the market. Everyone is reading about what the next big thing is going to be in the coming year. Predictions are always hard, but looking at the current market and where it’s heading, I can make a few educated guesses. Here are some of the likely trends in marketing for the year 2020:-

  1. Google analytics substitute- Google analytics is a wonderful tool that is free of cost. But with the vast base of customers and people that are using it, it’s slow and doesn’t tie into the data like new analytic companies vis-a-vis amplitude, etc. We are seeing a push towards business intelligence. The marketing channels are changing, and are no longer simply transactional. This is the reason that basic google analytics is not being considered enough for analyzation. More and more companies will be buying paid analytics tools.

  2. Voice search optimization - According to leading research companies, voice searches is going to account for at least 50% of all searches next year. So the marketing companies will have to optimize their brand to get them to convert into sales. Currently, few companies have the tools to do this. One of them is Jetson ai and more will be coming up shortly in the next year.

  3. Emailers - Emailers are very old and important for marketing, and will continue to be so for a long time. But the general trend of communication for marketing through emails are seeing a decline as fewer people are clicking on these mails. What companies are going to do is connect to their base through more channels, including emailers. This is because emailers are proving insufficient as a marketing technique. It will have to be combined with other communication methods to get the desired results.

  4. No moats - The technologies are converging and this reduction in technological gaps will make all moats disappear. The technology and everything that gives a company an edge is no longer unique as it is so easy to copy. The only advantage that will remain as a moat is the brand. People choose one brand over others not because that brand is special, but because of marketing. Jordan shoes are like other shoes but because people love Micheal Jordan, they also love his shoe company and that is what has now made him a billionaire.

  5. Diversification - There will be no more growth just by utilizing one marketing tool. In the early years, all the big internet companies grew out of a single marketing channel. Facebook grew out of email addresses that it invited you through, Quora grew out of SEO and dropbox grew through referrals. These silver bullets are now exhausted as more and more people jump into a new marketing scheme that is working, and get it to normal. Its the time for marginal gains by utilizing many marketing channels in different ways, targeting different crowds to get the best result.

These are some of the marketing trends that you are going to see and hear about in the coming year or so.
